Penn Yan Action Coalition Community Read: Discussion of IMMIGRANT by Marcos Antil
March 7 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
The sixth annual community read, presented by the Penn Yan Action Coalition, centers on Immigrant, the autobiography of entrepreneur and philanthropist Marcos Antil. The founder of tech company XumaK, Antil fled war in Guatemala at a young age, arriving in the United States and embarking on an unlikely path that will upend your perspectives on immigration, the American dream, and the true meaning of service. This session, join in a book club-style discussion of the book itself. You can find a limited number of copies at Penn Yan Public Library, as well as two available to borrow; the purchase of Immigrant online via Barnes & Noble benefit Mr. Antil’s philanthropic efforts. (We are currently working on making copies available at Long’s; because this is a self-published book this has proven more complicated than usual.) If you’d like to participate, please register at https://tinyurl.com/yhtxr6y7 so we know how many to expect, then choose whether to join us in person or via Zoom. We are also thrilled to announce that Mr. Antil will be joining us in person on March 22, 4:00 p.m. at Saint Mark’s Church in Penn Yan! You won’t want to miss the chance to hear from this remarkable man.
