Mycology 101: What is a Mushroom?

February 26 @ 6:00 pm 7:00 pm

Are you curious about mushrooms? You should be! Don’t be scared, fungi is a vastly misunderstood kingdom. In the first part of this four-part educational series, let’s dive into the magical world of fungi and learn about the basics of mycology, the study of mushrooms and fungi. In this class we will learn the basics of mushroom anatomy, how they reproduce, a wide range of their uses, common misconceptions and more, all while viewing dried samples foraged from all around the Northeastern United States. Then we’ll view spores and mycelium on a petri dish under a microscope!  Presented by Sam Warren, Samuel Warren is a licensed mushroom forager in 13 states, a NYS licensed guide and head mycologist at Food Forest Fungi.  Please register for this event at https://tinyurl.com/5n7s5ukf
