The last week of September we\u00a0 joined the Penn Yan Public Library (PYPL) on-line catalog with the Southern Tier Automated Regional Catalog (STARCat).\u00a0\u00a0 Patrons\u00a0are now\u00a0be able to search for Penn Yan items in the same combined online catalog as the 47 member libraries of the Southern Tier Library System (STLS).\u00a0 With this new service in mind, the Penn Yan Public Library Board of Trustees enacted some new policies to ensure our patrons have fair access to library materials.\u00a0 Selected policy sections:<\/p>\n
4.1 Patron Registration Requirements:\u00a0 Special First Library Cards (ages 0-5) require the signature of a parent or guardian and an ID which may be the parent\u2019s to prove address.\u00a0 These cards may only be used to check out children\u2019s materials.\u00a0 Examples of children\u2019s materials:\u00a0 All items located in the children\u2019s area of the library, Juvenile nonfiction, Juvenile Audio books and CDs, DVDs marked with an orange dot and story time kits.\u00a0 Video games cannot be checked out with this card.<\/p>\n
4.4 Renewals:\u00a0 Two renewals of loan periods per item are granted dependent upon: material type and the presence of a request for the material by another patron (a hold).\u00a0 More renewals may be granted upon staff discretion.<\/p>\n
4.8 Interlibrary Loan( ILL)\/Holds:\u00a0 <\/b>All ILL and holds materials should be picked up promptly as loan periods are set by the lending library and may be short.\u00a0 If a reserved item is not picked up from Penn Yan Public Library within the 1 week hold period, the reserve is canceled and the patron is charged a $1.00 non-pickup fine.<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
