Best for youth under 5\, with a caregiver\, this storytime will feature the sights\, smells\, and tastes of the Penn Yan Community Garden\, along with songs\, books\, and movement! The Community Garden is located at the end of Pleasant Ave\, which is a dead end street off of South Ave\, in Penn Yan. There is no restroom\, seating\, or running water\, so bring a picnic blanket or lawn chairs\, dress for the weather\, and be ready to have fun! Feel free to bring water bottles\, sunscreen\, and snacks. This storytime will take place at the library in the event of inclement weather.

DESCRIPTION:PYPL’s No Shop Stuff Swap returns for a milestone fifth year!  Members of the community are welcome to clear out their closets\, attics and basements to bring clean\, useful\, usable items to the library for others to freely take – helping to declutter our lives\, keep items out of the waste stream\, and get them into the hands of people who can use them.  This kickoff session is timed to coincide with the debut of this year’s Yates Concert Series\, so if you’re heading downtown for the music\, stop by the library to browse!  This year\, we’re continuing to invite representatives from local service organizations to table at these events\, offering another layer of value and connectedness.  Our outreach guests will be Zero Waste Ithaca and Sustainable Finger Lakes\, who will also be sharing during our overlapping Civics Hub session the same evening.  Questions? DESCRIPTION:Penn Yan Public Library will be conducting pop-up visits at Dresden Village Hall (3 Firehouse Ave.) between June and August.  Come sign up for a library card\, get started with the Libby e-book service and other digital offerings\, request research help\, and more. While it won’t be possible to check out materials\, a limited supply of free books will be available for the taking.  Library staff will also offer take-home programs for all ages; we’ll have instructions for upcycling materials into goods and toys for pets and wildlife.   This project is supported by outreach funds awarded by the Southern Tier Library System’s Coordinated Outreach Services Advisory Council.

DESCRIPTION:What’s Books & Bikes Fest? It’s a combination bike rodeo and block party! Kids can get free books\, free bike helmets\, snacks\, face painting\, and so much more fun! Kids are invited to bring their bikes\, scooters\, and trikes to the library\, whose parking lot will be closed to vehicles and open for free riding. \n\n\n\nThere will be raffles for scooters\, bike accessories\, and a Family Pass to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse. The Penn Yan Police Department will be on hand doing helmet fitting\, the Yates Community Center will be making free ice cream sundaes for the kiddos\, Yates County Public Health will have plenty of summer safety information for families\, and the Southern Tier Library System will be there helping kids make license plates for their bikes. Plus\, kids can hang out with a certified therapy dog\, play yard games\, try hula-hoop tricks\, get a temporary tattoo\, pop thousands of bubbles\, and\, of course\, visit the library itself!
